Denver Home Energy Rebates

Summary: These rebates are available to owners of residential properties in Denver. Rebates are available for qualifying air source heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, solar, battery storage and electric wiring and panel upgrades. These are instant rebates applied by the qualified contractor at the time of work and can be stacked with Xcel, Colorado and Federal incentives.

Note: Must use registered contractors. Rebate applied on qualified contractors invoice. Rebate requires pre-approval before work begins.

Xcel Energy Rebates

Summary: These rebates are available to residential customers of Xcel Energy Colorado. Rebates are available for qualifying high efficiency HVAC, water heating and insulation upgrades. These rebates can be stacked with Denver, state and federal incentives.

Note: Must use a registered Xcel Energy trade partner. Must be an Xcel gas and electric customer. Certain conditions must apply for eligibility.

Colorado Incentives

Summary: The Colorado Energy Office is currently developing the Home Energy Rebate programs established in the IRA (Inflation Reduction Act). Currently there are heat pump tax credits available. These tax credits can be stacked with Denver, Xcel and Federal incentives.

Note: Additional rebate programs through the Colorado Energy Office will be announced later in 2024. Eligible equipment must be installed by a registered contractor. The tax credit is split between the contractor and is applied as a discount to the customer.

Federal Incentives

Summary: Qualifying energy efficient improvements to your home can qualify for a tax credit of up to 30% back for the purchase and installation of qualified home efficiency upgrades with an annual cap of $3200. Credits are available for certain energy efficiency improvements such as doors, windows, insulation and air sealing, HVAC, biomass stoves, home energy audits, and electrical components needed to support upgrades. These tax credits can be stacked with Denver, Xcel and state incentives.

Note: These tax credits apply to existing residential homes only. The maximum annual credit can be claimed each year until 2032.
