Combustion Safety Check
Fuel-burning systems such as furnaces, boilers, and water heaters are essential - but when combustion, venting, or airflow conditions aren’t right, they can introduce serious and often invisible safety risks, including carbon monoxide (CO) exposure.
Our Combustion Safety Check (CSC) is a focused safety screening that includes real-time carbon monoxide measurements taken near fuel-burning appliances and within the home, along with a visual review of combustion-related components and venting conditions. Because CO is colorless and odorless, these risks frequently go undetected without direct monitoring.
This add-on service provides meaningful safety insight and documentation, helping homeowners and buyers identify potential red flags and better understand when further evaluation by a licensed professional may be warranted. The CSC is a limited, non-invasive screening intended to enhance safety awareness - it is not a full diagnostic or performance test.
As part of the Combustion Safety Check, our inspectors will perform:
Spot ambient carbon monoxide measurements near fuel-burning appliances during operation and in representative living areas of the home
Visual review for common combustion-related concerns, such as signs of back-drafting or ventilation issues
Observation and documentation of carbon monoxide detector presence in recommended locations at the time of inspection
Fuel-burning sources may include furnaces, boilers, water heaters, fireplaces, gas stoves or ovens, and attached garages, when present and safely accessible.
Learn More: Combustion Safety & CO Protection
Carbon monoxide (CO) is an invisible, odorless gas that can cause serious illness or death if undetected. Our Combustion Safety Check helps protect your household - especially in homes with older systems or limited ventilation.
